a comedy machine, in the best possible way. the way that some machines vend soda or prevent other machines from killing future revolutionaries – that’s how Myq Kaplan does comedy: relentlessly, methodically, unblinkingly
the comedians magazine

He was a Top 5 finalist on the most recent season of Last Comic Standing 2010 and ended his tour this summer. He has also appeared on Comedy Central’s Live at Gotham, at the New Faces show of the 2009 Just For Laughs Festival in Montreal, was voted 2008′s Best Local Comedian in the Boston Phoenix, and won the NY’s Funniest Standup Competition in 2009.

A Jewy-ish atheistic vegan who spells the name “Mike” weird (sorry or you’re welcome), Myq enjoys words, social justice, Netflix, and comic books. Also non-comic books, ping-pong, and being great with women. And grammar and run-on sentence fragments. And of course, entertaining his demographic, which is anyone who might know the word “demographic.”

“Every year, Last Comic Standing producers manage to smuggle one or
two comedians who are actually hilarious onto a major network reality
show…This past year, it was Myq (pronounced Mike) Kaplan, who
represented hilarious, gimmick-free, non-demographical joke telling.
And he finished fifth — which is about as well as genuinely funny,
original comedians can usually hope to do on the show.”

“The best thing about him though is that I never knew where he was going to lead us… Kaplan was like a boxer, constantly ducking and weaving and then hitting us with something that we didn’t see coming. (Beyond that though, he accomplished the impossible: he talked about being a vegan without making me want to punch him in the face.)”
